Fresh Start

So I decided to start blogging...(again)...it's good for the soul.

Life has been completely hectic for me these past few weeks/months. Some of it has not been my choice (i.e. being responsible for 2 very stressful jobs while a co-worker is on maternity leave) but some of it has been my choice (poor prioritizing). I have been spending a lot of my time and energy concentrating on others, work, "fun", and not really taking care of myself. And now I'm paying the toll. I spend most of my day exhausted, stressed out, hungry and frustrated with where I am. Not to say I haven't been enjoying myself...eating horribly and drinking excessively are fun in the moment, but your body can't take it for terribly long. I miss reading and yoga and after-dinner walks and snuggling with Sean and the dogs. So, I decided I need to rewind back to where I was last summer/fall when my health, my husband and our happiness took center stage. Spring is a time for new growth and fresh starts so, here I am. On a positive note, I am leaps and bounds further along than where I was last year this time. However, the past few months I have been on a little hiatus from growth and have been fairly stagnant. Coming up on my 30th birthday this summer, I'd like to reach those goals I set for myself previously and I need a little "umph" to get me there.

1) I still want to run that half-marathon sometime in 2008. I was running like crazy prior to my dual February Mexico trips. I've still been working out with Bo (and he's been killing me lately)...but my cardio days have dwindled terribly. I have set a few mini-goals to help me reach my big goal. I will be running a 5K leg of the Colfax Half-Marathon with a team on April 18th. After that, I'll need to continue stepping up my mileage. I'd like to get in a 10K sometime this summer, also.

2) I'm back to my healthy eating habits. I started my morning with my protein shake today...so this is my first step in the right direction. I'm also back to recording my diet in my palm. :)

3) Focus on Sean. I've been spending lots and lots of time with my new-found work friends and I feel like I haven't had as much QT with my favorite person! Luckily, his busy season with work & all of the travel is slowing down, which helps...AND, we are getting into motorcycle season where we'll spend hours & hours together exploring beautiful Colorado.

Those are 3 pretty significant goals. I'm sure I'll have all other sorts of mini-goals along the way, but in the mean time...let's start here. I'd like to blog daily, but I'm not setting myself up for failure from the starting line...so, I'll try to blog at least 2-3 times a week.

Happy Monday!
